I am a technologist, policy expert, and afro-futurist, and I believe that afro-futurism offers a unique perspective on the role of technology in society.

Afro-Futurism can be seen as a response to the racism and discrimination that Black people have faced throughout history. It offers a vision of a better future, where Black people are the protagonists of their own stories. It’s a way for us to reclaim our history, and to imagine a future where we are in control of our own destiny.
Technology and the Global Community
We live in a world dominated by technology. It’s hard to go a day without using some sort of electronic device, and for a lot of people, that’s not a bad thing. I’m not one of those people.
I love technology. I love the way it helps us communicate with people all over the world, the way it allows us to access information instantaneously. But I also know that there are downsides to relying so heavily on technology. It can be isolating. It can make us feel disconnected from the people around us.
That’s why events like Afro-Futurism and Technology are so important. They help us build community in a world that can sometimes feel isolating. They help us connect with each other, share our ideas, and explore new ways of using technology to build community. I always leave these events feeling inspired and motivated, ready to take on the world and use technology to make a difference.
The Importance of Black Feminism in Fostering Community
There’s been a lot of discussion lately about the importance of black feminism in building community. As a Black woman and a technologist, I couldn’t agree more.
In our digital age, it’s more important than ever to create spaces where we can connect with one another. But too often, we rely on technology to do that for us. We post about our lives on social media, and we expect other people to connect with us that way. But that’s not always the case.
For example, I recently attended a conference where I was one of the few black women in attendance. And while I had a great time, I couldn’t help but feel a little disconnected from the other attendees. It was only after the conference ended that I was able to connect with them online, through social media posts and comments.
Technology is amazing, but it can’t always replace face-to-face interaction. That’s why it’s so important to have spaces where we can come together and connect in person. That’s where black feminism comes in. It helps us foster community and create connections that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.
How to Share, Create and Build Relationships in a Digital World
We’re all connected, often unconsciously, and this connection helps us to build relationships with each other. But in the digital world, how do we create, share and build meaningful relationships?
One way I’ve seen people achieve this is by utilizing technologies such as virtual reality and Augmented Reality. These tools allow us to break down the physical barriers of distance and engage with each other in a truly immersive way.
Sharing experiences on social media such as Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube is also important for connecting with one another across the globe. By using these tools as a platform for storytelling, we can tell our stories and reveal our individual perspectives to an audience that otherwise would not have heard them.
Finally, Afro-futurism has helped to foster a culture of creativity that encourages collaboration with technology instead of seeing it as something that keeps us apart. This movement provides a way for people of color to express themselves through music, art and literature in unique ways that bring communities together.

And, most importantly, we can use technology to facilitate conversations about issues that are important to those in our communities.
By creating an accepting space for diverse voices, we can use technology to build bridges between us and help us create meaningful connections online. Through this approach, we can create a virtual world full of possibility and opportunity that is reflective of the diversity in our communities.
